The City of Subiaco is continuing to actively manage the impacts of polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB) across its suburbs through:
Repeated inspections
Specialist arboriculture services
Treatment programs
Pruning
Removal of infested material
Ongoing monitoring.
Seasonal reductions in activity during winter are expected, however residents are encouraged to remain vigilant for signs of PSHB. These can include tiny entry holes, staining, sugary residue or branch dieback.
Ongoing inspections confirm that PSHB infestations remain active within parts of the City. Several street trees have been identified as infested through recent monitoring and treatment works, with some trees requiring repeated treatment and further inspection of upper canopies.
Community awareness and early reporting remain critical in helping slow the spread of PSHB, supporting rapid response efforts, and protecting Subiaco’s valued urban tree canopy.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspected sightings on private property directly to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and any sightings in City trees or parks to the City of Subiaco’s Parks team.
