Last chance to view 'Becoming Djida'

DanaGarlettExhibition 7152
The Subiaco Museum's current artist in residence, Dana Garlett, will wrap up her 'Becoming Djida' exhibition on Saturday 31 May.

The exhibition, which launched on Friday 21 February, presents a collection of Dana's works that explore her connection to family and country. The exhibition opened with a special evening of art, music, and recognition of Aboriginal culture at Subiaco Museum.

Dana was selected as Subiaco's first Indigenous Community Artist in residence in recognition of her contribution to the City's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Artwork.

Of the exhibition, Dana said, "Becoming Djida is a personal journey - grounded in the reciprocity between people, place, and Country. Blending cultural narratives with contemporary design, I create with the intention of honouring the wisdom of those before me, the resilience of my people, and the presence of my Creator."

Dana's residency also included a series of adult and child workshops, and an installation outside Subiaco Library as part of Subi Blooms x Gather 2025.

If you'd like to view 'Becoming Djida' before it closes, Subiaco Museum is free to visit and is open:
  • Wednesday to Friday 12pm to 4pm
  • Saturday 10am to 2pm
