Broome-based graphic novelist Brenton E McKenna is hosting an evening of fun, drawing and graphic novel insights at Subiaco Library on Monday 27 October.

Brenton, locally known by his middle name "Eszra", is a respected Yawuru artist who has become one of the world's most coveted First Nations graphic novelists. He became Australia's first ever published Indigenous graphic novel author in 2011 when his first work, "Ubby's Underdogs: The Legend of the Phoenix Dragon", was released.

Of his visit to Subiaco, Brenton said, "I can't wait to visit Subiaco Library for the first time! I am looking forward to telling stories, making stories, hearing stories and drawing stories. When I think of charming places around Perth, Subiaco comes to mind every time. I can't wait to meet you all!"

Brenton's latest graphic novel "Hairy Holes" offers a hilarious look at life in the outback.

Tickets to the event are free, with bookings essential. Dymocks Subiaco will be at the event if you'd like to buy a copy of any of Brenton's novels.
