Help us shape the City’s streets and laneways

Subi Streets, which was endorsed by Council in July 2024, is a City-wide initiative that will create a long-term blueprint for how every street and laneway in the City of Subiaco looks, feels, and functions.

The project aims to shift the focus from vehicle use to more versatile community spaces, and create safer, calmer streets for walking and riding.

Further objectives of the project include improved footpaths to provide access to all ages and abilities, facilitating places for people to stop, rest and connect, and increasing greenery to enhance the attractiveness of our streets and laneways.

Subi Streets will incorporate the people-centred Healthy Streets approach to develop three key documents that will guide transport and public realm decisions for the next decade and beyond.

Mayor David McMullen said the project puts the community and its wellbeing front of mind.

“This project is an Australian first, and it's ambitious. Our goal is to deliver a blueprint for the next decade and beyond that will guide decisions about transport and the public realm across the City of Subiaco's streets and laneways – all in pursuit of a more vibrant, sustainable, and connected Subiaco.

“Community engagement is an essential process in long-term, community-focussed projects like this. We’d love to hear from anyone who lives, works or visits the City of Subiaco; all perspectives are valued, and all feedback we receive will help inform these plans for our streets.”
