The City of Subiaco is renewing the current Economic Development Strategy and is eager to understand the perspectives of local residents, property owners, visitors, workers and businesses regarding economic development in Subiaco over the next five years.
The strategy, which is a key action within the City’s 2017-2027 Strategic Community Plan, will drive future economic growth for the benefit of the community.
Items within the strategy may include:
- Supporting businesses that are already located in the City
- Attracting new businesses to the City
- Working with businesses to help create new jobs, and
- Encouraging residential and commercial developments that fit the area’s character.
Mayor David McMullen said, “Engaging with and supporting our business community is an essential function for us as a Council and City. The renewal of our Economic Development Strategy is about continuous improvement, and a refocussing of the ways in which we provide support to local businesses.
“Whether you’re a business owner, resident, or visitor, I encourage you to take the time to have your say on the drafting of this strategy, to ensure we can collectively maintain our thriving business community for many years to come.
“I'm pleased at the way the specially-constituted Economic Development Task Team - comprised of a selection of Elected Members and staff, with the assistance of our external consultants - have worked together to get us this far."
Once drafted, the strategy will be reviewed by the City’s Economic Development team, and Council’s Economic Development Strategy Taskforce. Following their review, a final version of the strategy will be presented to Council for endorsement.
