The City is once again hosting its annual community planting event to mark National Tree Day.
The popular event will see a newly-created hydro-zone bed filled with 3000 Western Australian native plants over the course of one day.
A hydro-zone garden bed groups plants that have similar water requirements together as a way to conserve water and increase sustainability.
Native plants not only help save water, but also reduce the need for excess fertiliser and weed control while increasing biodiversity.
The event will transform a section of Mabel Talbot Park (near Peel Street) on Sunday 6 August from 9am to 11am.
The City has been participating in National Tree Day since 2008, with the community contributing to the planting of many areas such as Mueller Park, portions of Stubbs Terrace, Rosalie Park, Charles Stoke Reserve, and Lake Jualbup.
This planting event is a great opportunity to continue this valuable work and celebrate the natural environment and the City's local biodiversity.
All local residents are welcome.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, and bring your own gloves and trowel. Light refreshments will be provided.
