In its latest round of Community Development Grants, the City awarded over $10,000 to three innovative projects aimed at improving mental health.
Alzheimer’s WA Memory Cafe
Alzheimer’s WA were awarded $4,000 for their Memory Café initiative in Subiaco. Memory Cafés provide an opportunity for people living with dementia and carers to socialise in a safe in an inclusive environment. This exciting initiative will commence in July at Market Caff Subiaco, and other locations.
Subiaco Women’s Shed
The
Subiaco Women’s Shed was awarded $4,000 in seed funding to kickstart their first year of operation. The funding will enable the organisation to begin recruiting members and will provide enough equipment for events and activities in temporary spaces. Their launch party is in August 2024.
Deserving Better WA
Deserving Better WA was awarded $2,500 for a six-month educational project that addresses violence. Beginning this month, the six-month pilot aims to empower people experiencing a range of social issues – from family violence, coercive control and racism to trauma and bullying. The program, which includes clinic days and community seminars, will he hosted at The Third Place.
