City staff punch for a cure
A team from City of Subiaco will be throwing some punches to raise money to fight childhood cancer.
The Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Punch for a Cure fundraiser is happening at local business, Rumble Boxing Subiaco, from 12pm Friday 4 April to 12pm Saturday 5 April.
The aim is to hit 1 million punches in 24 hours to fight childhood cancer and each team will hit one punching bag non-stop for two hours in their timeslot.
The Subiaco team consists of six staff members from different areas across the organisation including Lords Recreation Centre and the Community Development team.
Mayor David McMullen said, “It’s great to see City staff support such a worthwhile cause, and great to see a local Subi business helping make this fundraiser happen.
“I wish all the teams participating the very best.”
All proceeds will support groundbreaking cancer research, focusing on innovative treatments beyond chemotherapy to reduce the long-term health impacts for kids with cancer.
