City sponsors local entrepreneur for Curtin Ignition program
The City has again partnered with Curtin University’s Business School to sponsor the 2025 Curtin Ignition program, and as part of this sponsorship, the City is supporting a delegate to attend the program.
Thila Raja, who owns and operates an established speech pathology business in Subiaco called ‘Speak for Life’, is the City’s 2025 sponsored delegate.
Committed to helping professionals to express themselves clearly through their speech, voice, and accent, Thila has been trialling a series of online dialect classes to existing clients across Australia, and plans to utilise the Ignition program to explore scalability, idea refinement, and business acceleration.
Thila said, “Through ‘Speak for Life’, I help individuals communicate how they deliver their message effectively. I also help people speak in an accent that is easy to comprehend and understand for the global population.
“My business has been very part time due to my other life commitments, and my dream is to build my business to one that runs without daily involvement. I understand it is not an overnight thing, however, I do hope Ignition gives me the tools to get restarted in the right direction.”
Mayor David McMullen said this sponsorship furthers the City’s commitment to championing local business.
“Programs like Curtin Ignition offer a rare opportunity for local entrepreneurs to receive specific, high-quality industry feedback from global experts. I look forward to seeing how the program will inspire Thila to continue her business journey in Subiaco.”
The program is a five-and-a-half day intensive comprised of practical training sessions, expert clinics, and mentorship opportunities. The 2025 program is running from Saturday 30 August to Friday 5 September.
