City receives two nominations for national event awards

Harmony Week

The City of Subiaco has received two nominations in the 2025 Australian Event Awards, recognising two significant community events that occurred in 2025: Subi Blooms x Gather 2025, and Harmony Under the Stars; a free outdoor movie night at the Subi Night Market commemorating Harmony Week.

The awards recognise excellence and innovation in event management across a variety of event types, sizes, and locations across the country.

Subi Blooms x Gather 2025, which was held over Mother’s Day weekend across Subiaco, has been nominated in the Best Small Event category. This event was run by See Subiaco, a City of Subiaco initiative, and featured a walkable trail of 15 large-scale installations by more than 30 local florists, an immersive art installation, special offers and events at local businesses, custom floral projections, and more.

This year’s event also saw the debut of the Gather Village at Postal Walk, which featured live music, pop-up food vendors, local merchandise and a fresh flower stall.

Harmony Under the Stars, which was hosted at Subi Night Market during Harmony Week in March 2025, has been nominated as the Best Community Event in WA. The event featured a number of free activities promoting cultural diversity, including a lion dance performance, henna art, arts and crafts, Aboriginal face painting, and a film screening.

Mayor David McMullen said, “These nominations celebrate our City’s dedication to programming vibrant, inclusive, and engaging events that bring our community together. Both of these events cement the City of Subiaco as a leader in the community events space, and it’s fantastic to see staff effort behind these events being recognised on a national level.”

Winners will be announced in mid-October.
