The City of Subiaco featured in two economic development events this week to continue to support a strong local economy.

The Western Suburbs Business Association (WSBA) ran ‘Breakfast with the Mayor’ where Subi Mayor David McMullen lead an engaging discussion on the local economy, how the City of Subiaco is redefining the role of local government and what high performing Councils can do to foster business success.

Attendees were taken through the evolution of Subiaco over the years and how new leadership, strategies and key projects are contributing to the current revival – and positioning the City for success into the future.

Mayor McMullen was also a speaker at a Property Council event co-hosted by the City: ‘Subi surge: the rebirth of Rokeby Road and surrounds’.

This event explored Subiaco’s transformation and how it’s poised for further growth across a number of industries and sectors including housing, health, retail and hospitality.

Mayor McMullen said, “The City of Subiaco has worked hard over the past few years – and continues to do so – to help attract investment, improve market confidence, support local business, attract visitation, build on local amenity and, ultimately, make Subiaco thrive.

“We’ve done this through a number of means including public realm upgrades, supporting destination events like No More Blank Walls and Subi Night Markets, business support and engagement, and renewed economic and visionary strategies that align with community priorities.

“It all takes work, and it is never just launch events and openings; that is just the tip of the iceberg. The City of Subiaco is a great place to do business and is now having its time in the sun, as a result of hard work by members of our Council, City staff, local business owners and developers, and industry bodies.

“Hard work pays off, and our City is enjoying a well-publicised revival. For our part as a local government, we will continue to help drive this.”

Both events took place in the heart of Subiaco, bringing in visitors from across Perth.
