Architect appointed for Mount Claremont Depot
At its November Ordinary Council Meeting last night, Council awarded the tender for the design of a modern, fit-for-purpose depot for its outside staff and vehicles.
MPS Architects were awarded the tender for design of the new depot.
The new depot, located at John XXII Avenue in Mount Claremont, will provide a permanent base location for the City’s outside staff and vehicle fleet.
The depot will prioritise safe vehicle and pedestrian access, sustainable practices like use of solar and rainwater harvesting, increased storage options, and safe, functional facilities for the City’s outside staff.
Mayor David McMullen said, “A modern, purpose-built municipal depot will be an investment in the essential services our community relies upon every day, including high-quality waste management, and the maintenance of parks, buildings, car parks, and other facilities.
“This new depot will help equip the City to meet and exceed expected service levels.”
Earlier this year, the
City was granted a Management Order for the construction of the new depot.
Management Orders for the site were also granted to the City of Vincent and Town of Claremont, and all three local governments are working collaboratively to identify opportunities for shared infrastructure and operational efficiencies.
MPS Architects will soon commence work on an initial concept design for the site. Stay tuned on the City’s website for future updates about the new depot.
