Annual startup showcase debuts at the Regal
On Monday 13 October, more than 400 people from across Western Australia’s innovation and startup sector headed to Subiaco for the annual Plus Eight Demo Night.
The event saw eight start-up businesses, who have been selected as the final cohort of the Plus Eight accelerator program, pitch their concepts to investors and the broader startup community.
Concepts were wide-ranging, with attendees hearing about everything from self-tan setting powder and a fully automated smart iron to AI-led learning experiences for course creators and a matchmarking platform for therapy.
Mayor David McMullen said it was great to see so many representatives from the startup community at Subiaco’s iconic Regal Theatre.
“We recognise the vital role that entrepreneurship, innovation, and startups play in our economy – and in recent years, we’re seeing momentum build as more innovative businesses and startups are choosing Subiaco as their home base.
“We were excited to partner with Spacecubed to bring this event to Subiaco for the very first time; and we are looking forward to doing more work with Spacecubed, Startup WA, and West Tech Fest to further showcase our existing startup ecosystem and attract new investment.”
