The Airport Line – launching Sunday 9 October – is set to make it easier and quicker to travel to and from the City of Subiaco for locals and visitors alike.
The service will run through Subiaco on the Fremantle train line, with extra trains slotting into existing timetabling. This means that trains will stop every 6 minutes at Subiaco, Daglish, Shenton Park and West Leederville stations (as well as other stations between Claremont and Bayswater) during peak times.
The service will enable people coming from locations like High Wycombe, Bayswater, Maylands and East Perth to access Subiaco’s beating heart via train in mere minutes, where previous train routes would have required transfers and wait-times at the Perth CBD train station.
Subiaco residents travelling to the airport will also benefit from this service, as the journey time from Subiaco Station to Airport Central is now just 27 minutes.
“Public transport needs to be frequent, convenient and reasonably priced – otherwise people become reluctant to use it,” Mayor David McMullen said. “The Airport Line service through Subiaco ticks these boxes and therefore provides a great way for people to get in and out of our City, whether for leisure, business, a daily commute or airport travel.
“It’s a really exciting time of growth and transformation for the City with prominent new developments in the pipeline and fantastic events all year round.
“We also have a variety of exciting bars and restaurants – some established, some new – so there’s no better time to stop off in Subi to catch up with friends and family, see what’s new, and support local businesses while you’re at it.”
