From monster hunts for kids to mural deep dives, there’s something for all ages in an upcoming guided walking tour series through Subiaco.
See Subiaco have teamed up with local tour company Oh Hey WA to launch Subi Art Walks, a series of six walking tours showcasing the best of Subiaco’s arts and culture scene from Halloween through to Christmas.
The program kicks off two Halloween-themed twilight walks through hidden laneways. Stories & Spirits on Friday 30 October is an adults-only experience featuring spooky stories, drinks, and nibbles; and Family Fright Night on Saturday 31 October invites families to hunt for monsters, enjoy games, and show off their creative costumes at the Subiaco Fright Market at Market Square. Both tours will feature MONSTERS CAN’T FLY, a large-scale inflatable artwork by artist Matthew Aberline with The Beautiful and Useful Studio.
Throughout November, Murals and Markets will feature a guided exploration of Subiaco’s murals, uncovering the stories behind the artworks and the artists who created them. The Shenton Park Gallery Experience, available on 15 and 22 November, will take visitors behind the scenes at three distinct art galleries in Shenton Park.
As the festive season draws closer, Festive Sundowner walks on 2, 9, and 16 December will offer a fun, mid-week evening of art, local hospitality, and more artworks.
Mayor David McMullen said the tours would present a fresh perspective on Subiaco’s arts and culture scene.
“These tours are a different way to experience Subiaco. Exploring on foot gives you the chance to take things in, experience the place properly, and discover somewhere new along the way.
“Whether you’re planning a family Halloween adventure or a catch-up in the lead-up to Christmas, these walking tours will make a great outing, especially paired with everything else Subiaco has to offer.”
