Owners of eligible heritage properties can now apply for funding through the City of Subiaco’s heritage grants fund.

The fund is available to owners of privately owned properties or properties owned by not-for-profit organisations that are included on the Local Planning Scheme Heritage List, or are contributory places within a heritage area.

Grants support conservation works that are in public view and enhance or reveal a property’s heritage significance, as well as urgent conservation works required to stabilise a building. Eligible works may include façade restoration, re-roofing and guttering using matching original materials, repairs to original detailing, verandah restoration, chimney repairs, and treatment of rising damp.

Eligible projects can generally receive funding for 50 per cent of the cost of the works, up to a maximum of $5000.

Applications for the first round of heritage grants for 2026–27 close at 5pm on Friday 2 October 2026.

City of Subiaco Mayor David McMullen said the heritage grants fund helps property owners conserve the buildings and streetscapes that contribute to the City’s distinctive character.

“Heritage properties often require specialised work and materials. These grants are a practical way for the City to help preserve and celebrate Subiaco’s local heritage, so that our heritage places can continue to tell the story of our city and the people who have shaped it,” he said.
