Lords Recreation Centre is inviting the community to explore new ways to get active at some of Subiaco’s best-known places as part of the national Million Moves challenge.
Led by AUSactive, Million Moves encourages Australians to build more movement into their daily lives from 1 to 21 September 2026.
The challenge is simple: participants commit to 15, 30, or 60 minutes of movement each day, with every minute counting as one move.
Walking, swimming, cycling, stretching, dancing, playing sport, and gym training can all contribute. The free challenge is open to people of different ages, abilities, and fitness levels, and participants do not need to be Lords members or have a fitness tracker.
To bring the challenge to life locally, Lords has created Move a million ways with Lords – a six-part video series showing how movement can happen almost anywhere.
Lords instructors visited locations including Subiaco Common, the Subiaco Oval heritage gates, the Library and Museum, Forrest Walk, and Jualbup Lake to demonstrate exercises that do not require a gym or specialised equipment.
The videos will feature activities ranging from walking and step-ups to lunges, squats, push-ups, and planks. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced options will help viewers choose a version that works for them.
Through the series, Lords aims to show that movement does not need to be complicated. Participants can try the exercises at the featured location, at home, at Lords or wherever works for them.
A new Move a million ways with Lords video will be shared on the Lords Recreation Centre Facebook page and YouTube channel every Tuesday and Thursday during the challenge.
City of Subiaco Mayor David McMullen said the campaign was designed to make movement feel accessible for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or fitness level.
“Lords has long helped people of all ages and abilities stay active and connected. Through a Million Moves, the team is taking that message beyond the centre and showing how many opportunities there are to move throughout Subiaco.
“We hope the campaign encourages people to try something new, make small and achievable changes, and remember that every minute of movement counts,” he said.
Participation is free. Join Team Lords and start recording your moves from Tuesday 1 September.
