A new exhibition showcasing the top 50 artists from the 2026 Shaun Tan Award for Young Artists has officially opened at Subiaco Library.
This visual art encourages and celebrates imagination, innovation and creativity in years one to twelve students across the state.
This year, more than 1000 entries were received from schools across the state.
Entries came in as far as Cable Beach, Fitzroy Crossing, Margaret River and Albany – and this year, 10 per cent of all entries received were from regional schools (up from 6 per cent in last year’s award).
The exhibition showcases the top 10 entries from each award category – lower, middle and upper primary, and lower and upper secondary. It closes on Sunday 2 August.
An official award night in late July will close out the 2026 awards with patron, Shaun Tan, set to give a speech to the attending students.
