More than $27,000 of community grant funding awarded

As part of the City’s Community Development Grants program, more than $27,000 in grant funding has been allocated to 11 community organisations who are working to help improve health, wellbeing, safety, security, social inclusion, connectedness, and quality of life within the City of Subiaco.

Check out the list of recipients below.

  • Alzheimer’s Australia WA received funding for its monthly Dementia Book Club, plus a dedicated collection at Subiaco Library, to support people living with dementia, their families, and carers.

  • Deserving Better WA received funding for initial insurance experiences, which will support the organisation to establish its services and operate safely while delivering support to vulnerable community members, with a strong focus on those affected by family and domestic violence and coercive control.

  • Barking Gecko Theatre Company received funding for its Ticketing Access Program, which supports subsidised tickets and engagement activities linked to three theatre productions and a festival hub at Subiaco Arts Centre, increasing access to the arts for disadvantaged children and families.

  • Subiaco Women’s Shed received funding for the My Home Project, which will include equipment, materials, and training to build a workbench, creating more opportunities for women to develop practical skills, confidence, and social connections.

  • Curate Arts was awarded funding for the Holiday Song Program, an eight-session singing class for youth and adults, helping participants build skills and confidence before showcasing their achievements in a community concert.

  • The Baden Street Singers were awarded funding for their Youth Workshop, where participants can learn and perform a cappella singing, culminating in a community performance.

  • Southern Cross Volleyball Club received funding for the Sitting Volleyball ‘Come and Try’ Program; a 32-week program of weekly sitting volleyball sessions at Lords Recreation Centre, encouraging physical wellbeing and ongoing participation for people living with disability.

  • Chinese Dance Australia received funding for their 2026 Dragon Boat Festival, which will feature performances, workshops, and cultural activities, creating opportunities for residents to connect, learn, and celebrate cultural diversity.

  • Second Act Arts were awarded funding for ‘Chronicle: Subiaco Stories’, a community storytelling project which will feature interviews with local residents, and culminating in a live performance and publication.

  • LifeLinkConnect was awarded funding for the LifeLinkConnect Community & Wellbeing Program, a three-month program of events and volunteer matching activities to help vulnerable community members build meaningful relationships and expand their sense of belonging.

  • Irish Choir Perth was awarded funding for their ‘Sing Along’ program, which includes a community event combining live music, participatory choir singing, and afternoon tea in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
