This fortnight, the City of Subiaco has supported three business engagement events right here in Subiaco across a range of diverse sectors; advertising and design, mining and resource, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

Here’s an overview of the events and the insights shared at each.

Perth Advertising and Design Club – ‘Show us the Fine Print: IP & Copyright in Creativity’

This June ‘commune’ event on Thursday 4 June unpacked the essentials of intellectual property for creatives, strategists, and clients. It saw 60 attendees from Perth’s advertising and design sector converge at Lums Wine Bar to hear from a panel of industry experts.

From trademarks, moral rights, and copyright, to how IP is created, transferred, and protected, the panel shared advice on how to safeguard work, protect clients, and avoid common pitfalls in commercial creative practice.

CORE Innovation Hub Tech Talk

As part of a partnership with the CORE Innovation Hub, the City supported a targeted lunch event at Quello on Thursday 11 June focused on innovative solutions to accelerate transformation in the energy and resource sectors.

Mayor David McMullen opened the event with a short speech highlighting the mining and resource sectors’ impact on the City’s economy, and provided a sneak peek at the City’s newly published Investment Prospectus.

StartupWA Roundtable

Following collaboration on last year’s West Tech Fest, the City is continuing to work with StartupWA for a series of roundtable events hosted in Subiaco.

Hosted at the Vibe Hotel on Monday 15 June, this session brought together up to 60 attendees to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence in the early-stage innovation sector.
