2025 Photographic Awards winners announced

Winners were announced for the City’s prestigious Photographic Awards at a special ceremony last night, with Claremont resident Andrea Cotumaccio taking out the top prize for their photograph titled ‘The Face I Had’.
 
A record 1250 photographs were entered into the 2025 awards. This year’s awards also featured two new categories; 'People and Portrait' and 'Nature', which were taken out by Beaconsfield resident Samantha de Souza with ‘Red’, and Canning Vale resident Donald Chin with ‘Yum!!’.
 
The Resident’s prize was given to Shenton Park resident Paul Harrison for his photograph titled ‘Wanaka Tree’.
 
The winners of the 2025 Photographic Awards are as follows:

Open category: Vincenzo Avallone for Geometries of Anonymity
Nature category: Donald Chin for Yum!!
People and Portraits category: Samantha de Souza for Red
AI category: Tomasz Sobkow for The Last Selfie
Youth category: Oliver Tomkins for Overshadowed
Kids category: Cameron Pedersen for Morning Routine
Resident category: Paul Harrison for Wanaka Tree
 
Mayor David McMullen acknowledged the talent of all winners and finalists in the 2025 awards.
 
“The City’s Photographic Awards are always a highlight on the City’s arts and events calendar, and it’s fantastic to see that the award shows no sign of slowing, with a record number of entrants this year.
 
“The shortlisted and winning photographs are a testament to the photographic talent we have across our community and further across Perth, and I’d like to extend my congratulations to this year’s very deserving winners.”
 
The Photographic Awards exhibition, which features the 91 finalists' works, is now on display at Subiaco Library until Sunday 7 September.
 
Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote for their favourite photograph to win the People’s Choice Award, via ballot at the library.
