Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a morning of poetry and outdoor activities.
Join Subiaco Library to celebrate the recent release of Right Way Down - an incredible anthology of poetry for children written by thirty-eight West Australian creatives, selected by Rebecca M Newman & Sally Murphy and illustrated by Briony Stewart.
Rebecca M Newman will start of our morning with the story of how this collection was made with Fremantle Press and by sharing a few poems before the morning opens into games, activities, light snacks, and book sales from Dymocks Subiaco.
Some of the contributing authors will be there on the day for signings and there will be many different activities to take part in.

About Right Way Down.
Stand on your head with Sally Murphy, explode some dynamite with Cristy Burne or shoot some hoops with Cheryl Kickett-Tucker. Grow a poet-tree with Meg McKinlay or curl up next to your cat with Amber Moffat and watch a bit of Stink-o-Vision with James Foley. These and loads more poems by Australian poets are there to discover in Right Way Down. With striking illustrations by Briony Stewart, these poems will have you laughing, thinking, and playing with words – whichever way up you read them.
Due to external refurbishments, Subiaco Library will be relocating to a Pop-Up space in the old Subiaco Council building, 241 Rokeby Road from 2 October 2023 to mid 2024.
Some events will be hosted outside in the Rose Gardens at Rankin Gardens. Please bring weather appropriate clothing (hat, jacket) and a water bottle.
