Join us for an engaging and interactive session on forced migration and international displacement, hosted by the Red Cross. This is an opportunity to learn about the ongoing global refugee crisis and Australia’s role in providing safety and settlement for those in need.
Each year, Australia welcomes 20,000 individuals seeking protection, with nearly 1,000 settling in Perth alone. Through this session, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and resilience of refugees and asylum seekers, from their experiences in their home countries to their journeys and new lives in Australia.
We’ll explore:
- The differences between asylum seekers and refugees
- The Red Cross' role in migration support
- The global context of forced displacement and human rights frameworks
- Australia's role in humanitarian settlement
- The experiences of new arrivals and how we can better support them
Everyone is welcome—come be part of the conversation!
Refreshments will be provided.
