We all want to live in a world where women can live freely without the fear of violence. We can all be a part of creating that world, but it can be difficult to know what we can do on our own to help address something that feels like such a big issue.
By attending this workshop during 16 Days in WA, you’ll learn what the primary prevention of gender-based violence is, and participate in an activity that explores how rigid gender stereotypes can contribute to violence, and how unpacking them is crucial to ending it.
Ryan Corbould from Preventing Violence Together is a human ecologist with a background in advocacy for survivors of sexual violence in Canada. He has supported survivors through the criminal justice system, been a healthy relationships educator, and developed trauma-informed response policies with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He is passionate about the role of men in ending violence against women and believes that men and masculinities play a key role in primary prevention strategies. Ryan wants men to be some of the strongest voices advocating for gender equality.
