Written by Zac James, Kaarla Kaatijin (meaning "to understand fire" in Noongar) is a vibrant and engaging children’s theatre production that weaves together Noongar stories, language, and culture to explore the importance of fire to First Nations people.
Through a series of interlinked traditional and contemporary tales, audiences are taken on a journey that reveals fire not only as a physical force, but as a powerful symbol of knowledge, family and connection to Country.
With warmth, humour and interactive storytelling, Kaarla Kaatijin introduces young audiences to key cultural values and invites them to reflect on their relationship with the land, community, and each other. Designed to educate and inspire, the work celebrates Aboriginal culture and encourages understanding across generations.
Suitable for audiences aged 5+ Kaarla Kaatijin is a fun, interactive and educational play, that gives students a glimpse into the cultural significance of the places in which we live.
