Museum Morning - Building Subiaco

Discover the Whittakers kit homes and other early houses

In the early 1900s Subiaco was known as a town ‘built on a Sunday’, with construction sounds echoing each weekend. Discover the early homes built with materials supplied by Whittaker Brothers. Established in 1894 and operating in Subiaco from 1900, Whittaker Brothers were prominent timber and hardware merchants who also employed many local men.

Explore their Settlers Cottages plans, sold as DIY kit homes, and some of the early houses still standing today.
