Museum Morning - Australian Fine China, Calyx, Bristile and Wembley Ware

Did you know that one of Australia's most collectable ceramic brands was made right here in Subiaco?

Discover the story of Wembley Ware, the colourful and decorative ceramic range produced at the former Calyx Pottery and later Bristile factory. Established in 1921, Calyx became Western Australia's first commercial ceramics manufacturer, producing everything from household crockery and kitchenware to decorative china. Explore the museum's extensive collection of moulds, ceramics and hand-drawn designs, alongside historic photographs and local stories, as we uncover how a Subiaco factory grew to become one of Australia's largest pottery operations and left a legacy in homes across the country.

Museum Mornings are conducted by Subiaco Museum on the first Thursday of the month (excluding January). Commencing at 10am, the free lecture runs for 30-45 minutes and is followed by morning tea. Explore the Museum collection and discover a different theme each month.
