There is nothing so special as receiving a handwritten letter or card. The Subiaco Museum has many handwritten postcards and letters in our collection; some of them go back to the 1800s. Join us at the museum to write a letter or postcard to a friend or someone in your family. Decorate your letter and place it in an envelope ready to be sent!
Have you heard of the expression Pigeon post? During many historical militaries battles the army sent messages using pigeons with mini messages attached to their legs? Today the mail that is delivered by a postal worker is sometimes called ‘snail mail’. This is because it is slower than sending text messages or emails.
Letter writing is becoming a lost skill and yet people still love to receive a card or letter from someone close to them. Participants are welcome to write their letter using some olden day writing implements such as dip pens and ink.
