How to avoid evil: an evening with David Price

david price image evil.jpg

Join educator and author David Price where he will unpack morality and how the average person can avoid being evil.

"The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil."
-Hannah Arrendt

Join us at Subiaco Library for this presentation from author and educator David Price. David will revisit 20th century philosopher Hannah Arrendt's ideas around the banality of evil and explore the moral minefield of how average people can avoid doing bad things in a complex world. He will also offer some simple approaches to making moral decisions in our own lives on a day-to-day basis. Tea and coffee will be provided.

About David Price

David Price is a Western Australian educator and writer who grew up in the small northwest town of Carnarvon. His first book, Dark Tales from the Long River, was published by Fremantle Press in 2020 and explored some lesser-known and sadder historical events of the Gascoyne and Murchison Regions. David’s latest book, The Shameful Isles, has just been shortlisted for this year’s Margaret Medcalf Award and the Premier’s Book Awards for Best Non-Fiction Book of 2026. Now living in Perth, David continues to be intrigued by the unspoken history of his home state and committed to bringing sometimes uncomfortable truths into the light.
