Curious Curators

Do you like collecting? Do you have a collection of shells, feathers, rocks or toys? Come along to the museum and be a curator for the morning where you get to make a diorama of your collection.

Jessica Marantelli is the curator at Subiaco Museum and her job along with the help of her staff is to find, research and tell stories about the objects from the museum’s collection. These objects are put in a show case to let visitors see and discover the stories they tell. This showcase is like a diorama full of objects.

At the museum you will make a mini-museum showcase by making your own box diorama. What objects would you choose? What stories will they tell? How will you display the objects in your box?

Note: All participants will be required to bring their own small collection to the museum, for example: shells, stamps etc. The objects will need to be able to fit into a tissue box.

Designed for Family Groups

These events are designed for family groups of multiple ages. Many of the events take place outside the museum building so you may want to bring a hat.

The Museum is located behind Subiaco Library at 239 Rokeby Road, Subiaco, WA 6008.

Public Transport

The closest bus routes are the 97, 27 and 28.

Parking

Parking (including ACROD bays) are available outside the Museum.

Toilets are located at the Subiaco Library.

NOTE: Please do not attend Subiaco Museum if you are feeling unwell, you are most welcome to cancel your free ticket at any time and re-book into future upcoming events when you are feeling better and are symptom free. We ask that all visitors maintain good hand hygiene and utilise the hand sanitiser available when attending events.
