Coercive Control: Understand It, Recognise It, Stop It

Dr Lisha van Reyk, unpacks what coercive control looks like, how it impacts victims and families, and how to recognise the warning signs.

Coercive control is a pattern of behaviours used to dominate, isolate, and intimidate, often without leaving a physical mark. In this insightful and empowering seminar, Dr Lisha van Reyk, President of Deserving Better WA, unpacks what coercive control looks like, how it impacts victims and families, and what each of us can do to recognise the warning signs early.

Participants will gain practical tools to identify coercive control in relationships, learn about the current legal landscape in Western Australia, and explore how communities can respond with compassion and accountability.

At Deserving Better WA, we believe education is prevention. This session invites attendees to be part of the solution — fostering awareness, autonomy and a future where coercive control is no longer tolerated.

A Police representative will be in attendance on the night to answer questions.

Light refreshments will be provided.
