Climate Emotions: Feeling Our World with Dr Sally Gillespie

Join us at Subiaco Library for an interactive talk from climate psychologist Dr Sally Gillespie.

Climate emotions are a broad term for the psychological and emotional responses people experience in relation to climate and ecological losses and threats. Like all emotions, they can be fluid, layered and complex, interwoven with our experiences, places and relationships. They can encompass everything from grief to joy, fear to hope, apathy to determination and much more. When we can recognise, name and explore these collective feelings with others it helps to build resilience to engage with climate and ecological issues in a sustained way.

In this talk, climate psychologist Dr Sally Gillespie will discuss current research around climate emotions and facilitate conversations, encouraging the attendees to share their own feelings and experiences in response to climate and ecological issues. While there are no magic solutions, recognising the collective nature of our climate emotions and sharing them increases feelings of connection with the living world as well as meaningful responses and actions of care.
