Children's Book Week ® with Sean E Avery

Come and celebrate Children's Book Week® with Subiaco Library. 

Each year schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. This is an opportunity to meet a well loved author and learn about the joys of writing, how to become published and where authors find their inspiration and amazing ideas.

Meet Sean E Avery

Sean E Avery is a teacher, writer-illustrator, sculptor and designer born in South Africa; living in Perth, Western Australia. Locally, he’s best known as the writer-illustrator of best-selling children’s picture book, All Monkeys Love Bananas, published by Fremantle Press.

His picture book, Happy as a Hog Out of Mud, won the 2022 WAYRBA Picture Book of the Year Award and his last book, Frank’s Red Hat, is shortlisted for the 2023 Indie, WAYRBA and CBCA Picture Book of the Year Award. It has been translated into French, Korean, German and Danish. Sean's new graphic novel, Friendly Bee and Friends, is out now.

Age Restrictions Please be aware of the age restrictions for each session. Sessions have been specifically designed for certain age groups and age restrictions will apply. Utmost attention has be given to provide equal number of sessions for each age group.

Getting to the event: Subiaco Library has limited parking bays available at the rear of the building including two accessible parking bays. For more information on getting around Subiaco visit the city’s website.
