Come and celebrate Children's Book Week® with Subiaco Library.
Each year schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. This is an opportunity to meet a well loved author and learn about the joys of writing, how to become published and where authors find their inspiration and amazing ideas.
Meet Renae Hayward
Renae Hayward was born during a cyclone in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, but grew up by the beaches of Perth’s northern suburbs. She has authored two books for children, Barking Mad (Walker Books Australia) and Say Hooray (Fremantle Press), and was the inaugural recipient of the Ray Koppe Young Writers Residency (Australian Society of Authors/Varuna). She has also contributed as a poet to The School Magazine (NSW Department of Education).
Renae's poetry was selected for the fabulous new anthology Right Way Down and other poems and has her next picture book Say Hello is coming soon in late 2024
Renae is also the Bookaburra ambassador for 2024 promoting the importance of storytelling and getting books into the hands of young people.
