Children's Book Week ® with HM Waugh

Come and celebrate Children's Book Week® with Subiaco Library. 

Each year schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. This is an opportunity to meet a well loved author and learn about the joys of writing, how to become published and where authors find their inspiration and amazing ideas.

Meet HM Waugh

HM Waugh is a children’s author, educator and environmental scientist. As an author, HM Waugh has written four fabulous novels for middle readers or young adults. Her Mars Duology is a thrilling space adventure with Mars Awakens, being shortlisted for both the WAYRBA and the Aurealis Awards and Mars Underground being released earlier this year. Her debut book for middle readers The Lost Stone of SkyCity was also shortlisted for an Aurealis Award, and the YA novel Evacuation Road was a CBCA Book of the Year Awards 2022 Notable Book.

HM Waugh is passionate about gardening, children's literature and inspiring kids to get involved with STEAM subjects and activities.

How to book a session

Select one of the drop down sessions and add your class.

• 9.30am - 10.30am - Year 4 - 6

• 11am - 12pm - Year 4 -6

• 1pm - 2pm - Year 4 -6

Please book tickets for all attending - students and teachers.

Age Restrictions Please be aware of the age restrictions for each session. Sessions have been specifically designed for certain age groups and age restrictions will apply. Utmost attention has be given to provide equal number of sessions for each age group.

Getting to the event: Subiaco Library has limited parking bays available at the rear of the building including two accessible parking bays. For more information on getting around Subiaco visit the city’s website.
