Private pool and spa safety inspections underway
The City of Subiaco is continuing its regular inspection program to help ensure private swimming pool and spa barriers meet legislated safety requirements.
Royal Life Saving WA has been appointed to carry out the inspections on the City’s behalf. Property owners whose pools or spas are due to be inspected will be contacted directly with information about the process and any arrangements required to access the property.
Compliant barriers play an important role in preventing children from entering pool and spa areas unsupervised. The National Drowning Report 2025 found that 10 per cent of drowning deaths during the reporting period occurred in swimming pools, with 68 per cent of these occurring in backyard pools.
The inspections will assess whether private pool and spa barriers meet applicable safety standards and legislative requirements. Property owners are encouraged to check their barriers regularly and address any maintenance issues that could affect their operation.
