The contractor undertaking the temporary partial closure of one lane (southbound) of Rokeby Road between Churchill Avenue and Roberts Road has advised the City of an update.
The works are to enable the installation of an essential sewer upgrade to cater for One Subiaco and future developments in the area and is being done in stages.
Stage 3 works (southbound Rokeby Road – Hay Street to Roberts Road) were originally planned to take approximately 6-7 weeks, starting in early-mid February. To address traffic management issues in the surrounding area and maintain access to Seddon Street parking, these works have been re-sequenced into two parts.
Rokeby Road southbound from Seddon to Hay Street will reopen on Thursday 17 March, ahead of schedule. Rokeby Road southbound from Roberts to Seddon is now scheduled to re-open on Thursday 14 April.
The northbound traffic lane of Rokeby Road, pedestrian access along both sides of Rokeby Road and access into Seddon Street will remain open at all times, as will parking northbound on Rokeby Road and on Seddon Street.
The City is encouraging residents and visitors to continue to support local businesses in the affected area and is running a digital campaign – including blog posts, social media content and competitions – across its See Subiaco channels to help spread the word.
The Rokeby Road-Churchill Ave intersection reopened as planned on Wednesday 9 February and the remainder south of Hay Street will be open by 23 February.
