Subiaco lights up orange for 16 days in WA

Now in its ninth year, 16 Days in WA, a campaign to stop violence against women, is lighting up landmarks across the state – including the heritage gates at Subiaco Oval – as part of its ‘Landmarks Alight’ program.

The campaign runs from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women), through to 10 December (Human Rights Day). The 2025 theme is ‘Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play your part’.

The lights at Subiaco Library, Postal Walk, and Forrest Walk will also be turned orange for the duration of the campaign, representing a brighter future free from violence against women.

Education on domestic violence is a key priority within the City’s Community Safety Framework.

To support 16 Days in WA, the City hosted an education session on coercive control at Subiaco Library on Monday 24 November.

Presented by Dr Lisha van Reky, President of Deserving Better WA, the session included an overview of what coercive control looks like, how it impacts victims and families, and how to recognise the warning signs.
