Subi Blooms delighted audiences across the Mother’s Day weekend, transforming the Subiaco Town Centre into a floral wonderland for the sixth year.
Western Australia’s premier floral artists created 19 stunning installations forming a captivating floral trail that weaved through Subi’s bustling streets, laneways and shopfronts including
Stem by Stem – a magical interactive lighting installation by ENESS making its debut in Perth.
Tens of thousands of people turned out for Subi Blooms this year to celebrate Mother’s Day and explore the trail, with 100 per cent of audiences rating their blooms experience as a positive one.
Visitor comments included: “I sat for some time in the Theatre Gardens marvelling over Signature Floral Design’s laudable artistry listening to observers comment on how lucky they are to live here and walk freely amongst such beauty”; “Absolutely gorgeous. You have outdone yourselves. Congratulations to all involved.”; and “Aww this is such a highlight of the year for us”.
Mayor David McMullen said, “This year’s Subi Blooms was our biggest yet, with 19 floral displays and tens of thousands of people exploring the streets of Subiaco across the weekend. The event drew people from all corners of the metropolitan area, and gave great exposure for our local cafes, retailers, and businesses.”
Sustainability is another key element of Subi Blooms, with over 70 bouquets repurposed from floral installations at the conclusion of the event. These bouquets were donated to new and expectant mothers, and the dedicated staff at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
Highlights of this year's event included Sonny and Willow’s enchanted laneway, State of Art's floral hot air balloon, The Flower Girl's charming "Write to Your Mum" station at Postal Walk, and a community program supported by Lotterywest, featuring an interactive floral pyramid and flower card-making workshops by Flower Nation.
Other contributing florists such as Sonny and Willow, FreakHaus, Signature Florals, Fox & Rabbit, Pop Floral, and Cottage Garden added their unique touch, enriching the experience for all who attended.
Subi Blooms is presented by See Subiaco, a City of Subiaco initiative.
