Notice of reduced traffic flow on Hay Street

The section of Hay Street between Catherine Street and Rokeby Road has been reduced to a single lane of traffic flow.

The owners of 424-436 and 440 Hay Street have become aware of significant structural issues with these properties.

The buildings are being monitored and assessed by a structural engineering firm. As a precautionary measure, until these further assessments are completed the footpath, parking bays and two lanes of traffic have been closed. Traffic has been diverted to a single lane, using the parking on the southern side of the road.
 
The City anticipates the extent of the closure can be reduced next week, dependent upon the structural engineering assessment.

The City is working with the building owners to ensure the safety of all, and regrets any inconvenience.
