Local businesses help reduce waste to landfill

The City is seeking local businesses who are keen to help reduce waste to landfill through its food organics bin initiative which started early this year.

The initiative – which also helps reduce general waste pick-up and processing costs – provides a dedicated food organics bin for businesses and a weekly collection service.

The collected food waste will be made into compost, helping to create a more circular economy.

Eleven local businesses have now signed up to make a difference, most recently Top Dog in Town, Little Cultures and Urban Soul Foods.

“We know our community values sustainability and this initiative contributes to making a difference diverting organic waste from landfill,” Mayor Penny Taylor said.

“Any City of Subiaco business is able to take part so I encourage you to opt in and help make our City a more sustainable place to live.”
