The City values its unique and rich heritage, and appreciates the dedication of home owners who work to conserve and enhance their heritage properties and, in turn, the heritage character of our suburbs.
Council awarded six grants for works to heritage properties at its November Ordinary Council Meeting, including a grant towards the reinstatement of a verandah to the original corner store at 142 Hensman Road.
Successful applicants were approved funding for conservation works which are in the public view and enhance and reveal the heritage significance of the property and/or urgent conservation works required in order to stabilise a building.
Other works to be undertaken as a result of the grants include reinstating lead lights to a front door on Chester Street, and repairs and re-pointing to original chimneys on Salisbury Street.
