At its Council Meeting on Tuesday 18 March 2025, the City endorsed a
speed limit reduction which would see speed reduced from 50km per hour to 40km per hour on local residential streets and some local distributor roads.
The speed reduction plan is part of a joint proposal across several inner-city local governments, and builds on a successful trial by the City of Vincent, which demonstrated that lower speeds reduced accident rates, encouraged walking and cycling, and improved community satisfaction with minimal impact on travel times.
The City is collecting questions and feedback to track community sentiment and site-specific nuances via
Have Your Say Subiaco (closing Thursday 15 May).
Members of the City's Engagement and Engineering teams will also host two listening posts at the Subi Farmers Market, on Saturday 3 May and Saturday 10 May.
