The City is hosting a number of exciting, family-friendly events this October to celebrate over 30 years of WA Bike Month.
Bike Month promotes and encourages people of all ages and abilities to ride their bike for transport, fun and an all-round healthier lifestyle.
Some of the two-wheel based activities around the City this October include surprise coffee giveaways at some popular local cafes.
Other free events:
The annual
Ride to Market event is also back in 2024; win a $10 voucher if you’re one of the first 100 people who cycle to the Subi Farmers Market on Saturday 12 October.
There will also be bike maintenance at the farmers market between 8am and 12pm with a chance to win some bike lights or locks.
Lords Recreation Centre is also getting in on WA Bike Month with a special offer; members and casuals can bring a friend for free to a cycle class between 28 to 31 October (inclusive). This is for 9.30am classes on Monday through to Thursday and 12.30pm classes on the Monday and Wednesday.
Mayor David McMullen said that the City supports sustainable travel options, like cycling.
“We're continuing to invest in projects that make our suburbs and our streets safer, and easier to navigate on two-wheels - whether you’re on a commute, riding with the family, or passing through Subi for a coffee with your peloton,” he said.
“Through our events this October, we are encouraging everyone to rediscover the benefits of cycling.
“We do these things because cycling is both good for the environment, and good for health and wellbeing.”
