Containers for Change Exchange Point trial begins in Subiaco

The City of Subiaco will partner with Containers for Change to trial a series of Container Exchange points in early February 2023.

Container Exchange points attach to public bins and hold between six and 10 drink containers, like cans and bottles.

Containers placed in the Container Exchange points are available for anyone in the community to collect and return to a Containers for Change refund point.

Mayor David McMullen said, “I strongly encourage residents and visitors in Subiaco to make use of these new Container Exchange points, to help reduce waste in our streets and parks.

“Sustainability is a major priority amongst our community, and initiatives like this are great reminders of practical ways we can minimise environmental harm in our everyday lives.”

Up to twenty Container Exchange points will be installed throughout the City of Subiaco in the coming weeks, in locations including Forrest Walk on Rokeby Road and the Subiaco Train Station.

There are three permanent Containers for Change refund points within the City of Subiaco: The WA Return Recycle Renew Head Office on Centro Avenue, Good Sammy on Rokeby Road, and Return-It Shenton Park.

The City of Subiaco is at the forefront of sustainability and was the first certified carbon neutral local government in Western Australia under the Commonwealth’s Climate Active program.
