City supports tennis club’s centenary celebrations

The City is proud to be supporting the Onslow Park Tennis Club’s centenary celebrations, including an open day and ‘Roaring Twenties’ themed ball, through its Community Development Grants program.

The Shenton Park club was founded in 1925, and provides facilities for members, guests and visitors to play tennis and socialise.

The club offers a wide range of opportunities to play, including social play, public open days, competitions, coaching, and regular social events including quiz nights, themed dinners and a Christmas function.

The City’s grant funding is supporting two events to celebrate 100 years of the Club: The Open Day and Afternoon Tea on Saturday 18 October from 2pm to 5pm, and the Gala Ball on Friday 7 November from 7pm to 11pm.

Club Secretary Sri Adiyanti said, “The Onslow Park Tennis Club is a vibrant, friendly and progressive local club that has been part of the Subiaco community for the past 100 years. The celebration of the Club’s Centenary provides an opportunity to share our success more broadly, and record an important part of Subiaco history.”

Mayor David McMullen said the events will be a celebration of the club’s impact over the past 100 years.

“The Club’s centenary celebration events reflect what our Community Development Grants are all about – projects and activities that promote wellbeing and a sense of belonging to Subiaco’s community. I am local to Shenton Park and see every time I go past, just how much of a community hub this Club is. I wish everyone at the Club the best for the upcoming celebrations, and a thriving club environment well into the future.”
