To recognise Homelessness Week 2024, the City of Subiaco has organised several events for people sleeping rough.
From a community dinner and lunch to free laundry services and hygiene packs, this year’s activities aim to provide much-needed relief and support directly to those in need.
Taking place from Monday 5 August to Sunday 11 August, Mayor David McMullen says Homelessness Week reflects the City’s
ongoing commitment to addressing homelessness.
"The City works with local service providers year-round to support those experiencing, or being at risk of, homelessness," he said.
“Last year, the City engaged the Salvation Army’s Homelessness Services Team to deliver a weekly Subiaco walk-in centre at The Third Place, providing everything from advocacy and referrals to essentials such as blankets, sleeping bags, clothing, hygiene packs, meals and hot showers to those who need it.
“Homelessness is a critical issue that affects our entire community. During Homelessness Week, we want to promote awareness about this social issue, and ensure that those who are sleeping rough are being connected with the right support agencies."
