City launches support hub for seniors

The City of Subiaco is committed to supporting and engaging with its senior residents and community members through a variety of resources, annual events, and other services.

As part of the City’s WA Seniors Week celebrations, it launched a special drop-in service called the ‘Seniors’ Hub’.

Held monthly in Subiaco Library’s ‘The Nook’ meeting room, the Seniors’ Hub is a drop-in service, where senior residents and community members can stop by to learn about services and programs they may be eligible for, either within the City of Subiaco or state-wide.

The hub will be facilitated by the City’s Community Development Officer – Positive Ageing, Daisy, who facilitates all of the City’s seniors’ events, including the weekly Coffee Club, bus trips to local cinemas, and Gold fitness classes in local venues including Lords Recreation Centre.

Mayor David McMullen said, “We are very proud to launch the Seniors' Hub, to complement our existing program of events and supports for older members of our community. The Seniors' Hub will help people as they age in place, linking them with the many services that can greatly improve their day-to-day lives, which are available from a variety of sources but are not always accessible or well-known.”

The Seniors’ Hub operates on the last Thursday of every month, from 2pm to 4pm, at Subiaco Library.
