The City of Subiaco has joined Switch Your Thinking (SYT); a local government initiative focusing on climate action, sustainable development, and responsible consumption, as a partner Council for the 2024/25 financial year.
The partnership follows extensive community interest in the City’s sold-out
Sustainable Sundowner event held in February 2024, and will include a number of benefits for residents and local businesses.
As part of the partnership, the City will host four free workshops that will offer residents valuable advice on sustainability initiatives, in line with the City’s
Sustainable Development Planning Policy (LPP 1.3).
The first workshop, ‘
Get Energy and Water Smart at Home’, will be held at Subiaco Library on Friday 11 October from 6pm to 7.30pm.
Alongside these workshops, rewards for residents and local businesses as a result of the partnership include discounts on sustainability-related products; such as solar panels, electric vehicle chargers and worm farms, and services; like battery audits and soil testing.
Mayor David McMullen said the partnership will enable the community to prioritise sustainable practices.
“The City has consistently led the way when it comes to sustainable development, and this partnership, in conjunction with LPP 1.3, will further empower our residents to keep sustainable design front of mind.”

City’s website and
