The Salvation Army’s Subiaco Engagement and Assessment Team, who have operated the weekly walk-in homelessness support centre at The Third Place since 2023, have extended their services to now include a weekly roving assertive outreach service.
This additional service commenced on 16 September 2025 and offers proactive support to rough sleepers in Subiaco between 11am to 3pm every Tuesday.
The service will include direct place-based responses, addressing individual need, which includes but are not limited to the provision of food, clothing and sleeping items, as well as referrals, service linkages, advocacy, information and advice and transport as/when appropriate.
Mayor David McMullen said, “This extended service provides a visible and active presence in the community, providing timely and direct support to those in need.
“This roving outreach will enable outreach officers to build trust and encourage those in need to attend our weekly walk-in support centre on Wednesdays if further assistance is required.
“Our goal, for all people using these types of services, is that they will at the right time access more permanent services and solutions to help them out of their current circumstances.”
Along with the new outreach service, additional healthcare services have also commenced at the weekly walk-in support centre, provided by Homeless Healthcare.
Homeless Healthcare is Perth’s largest provider of primary healthcare services to people who are experiencing homelessness or marginally housed, and are the only organisation in WA providing homeless-specific healthcare across hospital and community settings, with expertise in trauma-informed care, alcohol and drugs, and mental health.
